For the extensive flat located in a beautiful 1920s building in Barcelona’s Gràcia neighbourhood, we decided to keep its reformation very punctual and tried to touch as little as possible of the original elements of the stunning 200 m2 apartment. We kept the beautiful mosaic tiled floor, the charming doors, moulded ceilings and walls. However, kitchen and bathroom were updated with neutral pieces or finds from the same period.
As for the kitchen, we kept the existing terrazzo floor coordinating it with Parisian subway tiles and incorporated an old marble sink.
“We created a calm contemporary container with a vintage flair. It is eclectic and yet harmonic, with a bohemian chic. Many places carry already a set of memories, sometimes even expressed by the smallest detail. We value those and include them in our approach towards a coherent and aesthetically sound design whenever possible.” — Georg Kayser
