We are undergoing a careful transformation of a typical townhouse in one of the most picturesque villages of the Mallorca, situated in the Pla region, the agricultural heart of the island.
The house will be set as two independent apartments to allow hosting guests. The lower unit will be organised on two floors, a ground floor and a garden level, with two bedrooms plus studio and spa area.
The upper unit is almost a loft with one bedroom besides the open space under the roof. By opening up the back facade to create a terrace, we enable a stunning view onto the Tramontana mountain range. The large format window will jut out, using the depth to create a kitchen counter.
On the upper floor, an organically shared bathroom is placed in such way that it still allows the space to be felt as one space, with the three beautiful arches still clearly visible.
We are taking great care to restore the beautiful structural elements, like the irregular wooden beams of the roof, working with natural materials wherever possible. The walls are rendered in a natural lime render to be able to breath and regulate temperature.
This project features our expertise to allow for an even drastic change, while respecting the soul of the house.
The roof has been restored, insulated against summer heat, and covered with its original tiles.
